Europe Day 2022
Come and celebrate Europe Day with FIC Youth, European Debate Initiative, and European Youth Copenhagen! There will be a quiz, delicious food and beer, as well as live music by Cold Sweat.Everyone is welcome - members and non-members: just show up!
At 18:45 there will be jazzy tunes from the band Cold Sweat - a septet with original compositions, which has a new and young take on jazz music with inspiration from the neo-Nordic and modern jazz. Cold Sweat plays its own compositions with a jazzy and funky sound.
Europe Day held on 9 May every year celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic 'Schuman declaration' that set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between Europe's nations unthinkable. Schuman's proposal is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union.
For this event we made a quiz for citizens to learn more about European affairs in a light, entertaining way. We discussed the Schuman Declaration, facts about the history of Danish Members of the European Parliament, and tested our knowledge on myths, facts and anecdotes, all relating to EU politics from a Danish Perspective. Citizens also discussed the upcoming referendum, which is a theme that is both complicated and important.
